Our Heritage
Wired by the same hands that wired this valley.
Fifteen electrical workers chartered IBEW Local 558 in Sheffield in 1918, building the nitrate plants that powered a war. Their sons and daughters ran conduit through the TVA dams and wired the rockets at Redstone. In 1958, those same members put in their own money and started this credit union — so a journeyman could finance a truck when the banks downtown wouldn’t take the call.
It ran out of a modular building across from the old union hall for years. Today it sits on East 17th Street, next door to the same local. Same members, same purpose, same handshake.
Local 558 members who fought for fair wages wanted fair rates too, so they built a credit union of their own.

We’ll match a lower rate on a comparable new loan offered by another local lender. To qualify, you need a credit score of 700 or higher and a written, dated offer or quote from the competing lender at the time of application. The offer must be for the same loan type, amount, and term, and for a loan you qualify for with that lender.
