Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. 

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying objects.

How to Protect Yourself from Internet Piracy

  1. Never provide your personal information in response to an unsolicited request.

  2. If you believe the contact may be legitimate, contact the financial institution yourself.

  3. Never provide your password over the phone or in response to an unsolicited Internet request.

  4. Review account statements regularly to ensure all charges are correct.

  5. Never click on the link provided in an e-mail.

  6. Do not be intimidated by an e-mail.

  7. The Electrical Workers 558 Federal Credit Union does not solicit personal/private information via e-mail.

  8. If you do fall victim to an attack alert contact your financial institution,  notify the Federal Trade Commission through the internet at www.consumer.gov/idtheft or by calling 1-877-IDTHEFT. You should also contact the three major credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your credit file.
