You can now obtain one free credit report each year from the three major
credit reporting companies. Call (877) 322-8228 or online visit
www.annualcreditreport.com. You
can request all three reports at once or space them out.
It's a good idea to check your credit history at least once a year to
help to guard against "Identity Theft". Click for a free brochure on
Identity Theft . For more information on "Identity Theft"
visit the government's web site
www.consumer.gov/idtheft/. Or call 1-877-IDTHEFT.
If you've been denied credit in the last 60 days
the credit report is usually free, otherwise there is a nominal charge. Getting reports
from all three agencies is a good idea. Errors may show up on one bureau's
report and not another.
